SHE NEEDED NOTHING

SHE NEEDED NOTHING

From the DON’T SEND HELP series

Original mixed media artwork on paper by Jennie Hallestam.

Created using charcoal, layered text, and hand-painted details.

Part of the DON’T SEND HELP series — a body of work exploring feminine strength, presence, contradiction, and the quiet power of taking up space without asking permission.

The blindfold becomes something more than concealment. Not weakness. Not surrender.

A study in instinct, identity, and knowing — even without needing to see everything clearly.

Text and figure overlap intentionally, allowing softness and resistance to exist in the same space.

Each mark remains visible. Raw. Unpolished. Deliberate.

Artist note

She Needed Nothing was created around the idea that not seeing everything does not mean being lost. Sometimes strength exists in standing firmly in your own knowing — without needing permission, rescue, or explanation.
